Ash Townsend

Owner and coach

A former collegiate and professional footballer in the USA, Ash studied and graduated with a Degree in Public Health and Exercise Sports Science. He began firstly coaching football and moved quickly in sports performance and then found CrossFit as a beneficial way to train his teams.

He knew CrossFit combined with his passion for coaching and belief in lifelong pursuit of fitness and health and believed CrossFit Defiance (Defiance Fit) was the place to pass on this message.

Barry Chapman

Coach

After playing rugby league for 20 years, Barry started standard gym to continue keeping fit. He discovered CrossFit in 2015 at DefianceFit which changed his outlook on how fitness is applied to individuals.

It was not long before he wanted to make a difference in the health and fitness industry by becoming a coach, with particular interest in rowing and coaching masters athletes.
